This is extremely rare since you have to go into advanced settings to lower the AI's to do that. This could potentially happen if you only have 1 or 2 other Civs as opponents. The one caveate to this is if you are on your 6th dig and you already have 2 repeats of the Civ you dig up. If you are planning on building multiple Archeological museums then take the repeat from the Civ even if it means you have to wait for the theme till you fill your second museum. This could happen due to an early war where that civ ran out and did something significant near the other Civs capital. The one exception to this rule is if you are ONLY planning on having ONE museum and you get unlucky enough to have a repeat Civ. ALWAYS choose the capital leader or "other" than Barbarian. Personally if I do Archeologist I send him to the furthest most point and get 1 artifact from the nearest dig site to each civilizations capital. By which I mean steal it back from them with a spy or your military. They will rip you off.One caveat: you can totally "buy low". Art museums aren't.Īnother warning: don't try to "play the market" by "buying low" "selling high" with these things. That generally translates to meaning you have to use all 3 charges of an archaeologist Similiar conditions are true for Great Artists use all 3 charges or use multiple Great Artists before you can move the items.Only archaeological museums are subject to this restriction. All great works are subject to the lock when you move them and the ones that are created with great people get locked as well, but basically archaeological works are intended to be moved to be themed and you have no control over where relics are created, so they don't get locked at the start.Īlso, I am pretty sure that you can't move items out of an unfilled Museum. So, when you try to theme your stuff, if you haven't checked ahead of time, you will have a waiting period during this lock down period. This doesn't apply when creating archaeological works or relics though. Hopefully, that's explained better in the Civiliopedia. So, I collected a lot of data on this and other subjects. lol Yes, I was messing around with stuff to test things out. Only worked once or twice and then lost big time after that. Another warning: don't try to "play the market" by "buying low" "selling high" with these things. You can trade with others to help complete your theming collection. Some civilizations trade nearly item for item with a little spare gold tossed in from you or you can sell yours for a lot of whatever you want but, it's an option, if you have trouble theming from your own supply. That is, unless you trade these items with other civilizations.
